Wonderful Springtime!

It's been so beautiful here this last week! Spring is definitely in the air! Lukas is loving outside and that is the only place he wants to be. He will ask for his 'catch' (coat), and then his 'shows' (shoes). Then he sticks out his little hand and and says "hand" and starts to pull you toward the door. Once we get outside he plays with his little push toy he calls a 'car' and we color with chalk. It's been way too windy for bubbles, but I am sure we will get in plenty of bubbles soon enough! My husband and I have been planning on doing some landscaping and stuff to the yard to accommodate Lukas's love for outside. For his birthday we are going in on a swing set with the rest of our families for his birthday in May, then we are putting in a sliding door to the backyard, and extending the patio to have a nice family spot to eat dinners and stuff. We are excited and I can't wait until it's all completed! Lukas is going to be so happy!!!

Bowling Pictures

I posted about bowling earlier in the month and now I finally got a chance to upload some pictures! Enjoy!

Nature Walk

Last night was so nice out we decided to head out to the nature center. We took Lukas there many times, but since he was so little last year I really doubt he remembered it from before. He was so happy walking along with his "B". He wouldn't let us hold his blanket at all. I would ask him if he wanted me to hold his blanket after he had tripped on it a few times, he would say "no Mommy." So we let him hold the blanket. I now have to wash it, because when Lukas carries it with him he drags it on the ground. He also got to throw rocks in the water which he enjoyed very very much!

NO NO Mommy!

"No" seems to be the word of choice of Lukas. He says no to me about everything. Yesterday I would ask him a simple question and he would just tell me no. Some examples:

Me-"Lukas did you poop?" Lukas-"No" (Even though you could smell it.)
Me-"Can you pick up your toy?" Lukas-"No" (Then he would run out of the room.)
Me- "Go get in your chair for lunch." Lukas-"No" (He would still do as asked, he just said no.)
Me- "Lukas let's get your shoes on." Lukas-"No" (It's a game trying to get his shoes on.)

Well I am sure you get the idea. When he gets really fired up and made he yells "NO NO" at me or Chris. Mostly when we want to change his diaper, get him dressed into his pajamas, or tell him to stop hitting the dogs. It's a word we will have to live with I am afraid for now. I have be trying to not say No, but I guess it didn't work!

Time Change Blues

I usually love when the time changes, but not this year. It means two things to me. 1. Spring and Summer are coming, and 2. It's light out for longer. It seems this year we are having a hard time adjusting to the time change. Lukas has been a little crabbier at night and I can't fall asleep when I go to bed. It feels as though I am just sitting there and waiting to fall asleep. Then when my alarm goes off in the morning I don't want to get up at all. I had this problem before the time change, but it's much worse now. It took me 45 minutes just to wake up the last few days for work. That is crazy! I know it will get better, and all of us will adjust eventually. Just thought I would vent a little!

Good Morning Smiles

This morning was a very good morning! I woke Lukas up by tickling him on his neck and then running my fingers up and down his back. He said "no" to me at first, but then he started giggling and saying "mama." He grabbed his "bees" (blankets) and reached out to me. I started getting him ready for the morning and talking about various things that would be happening today. I am glad he doesn't know the word 'doctor' yet. He just smiled and was trying to copy various words I would say. After I got him ready for the day I scooped him up and he just cuddled into me and gave me a big hug! His good morning smile and hug set me up to have a great day! I will feed off this happiness all day! Who needs alcohol when you got your baby boy to sit and give you hugs and smiles! Grandpa Brett always called him "the best medicine!"

Thunder

Ahhh! Spring time! When I think of spring I think of green grass, warmer air, and everything fresh and new. Spring is about a week away yet, but we are having our first "thunderstorm." It's just a little thunder, lighting, and rain. I forgot that Lukas hasn't seen this weather in a while. While I was dressing him this morning it thundered and he looked at me and said "Mama what's that?" I said it's thunder and he seemed to be content with my answer because he just giggled and smiled. Then it thundered again. So he asked me again, and I gave him the same answer. He smiled and said "Mama." When we walked outside to leave for daycare and work he noticed it was raining pretty hard and he crouched into me. He held his breath and then asked me "what's that?" So I told him it was rain! I got him in the car and he just sat there smiling. He got pretty used to the snow and he talked about it a lot. I am sure it will be the same with the rain. I forget that he is processing new experiences, feelings, and things everything everyday. To him this thunderstorm was a new experience that he doesn't remember from last year because he was too little. It's neat!

Bowling!

Saturday we celebrated my baby brother's birthday. He is my baby brother, but he is no where near being a baby. He is turning 16 this Sunday! So to celebrate we went bowling with our family, out for pizza, and then back to my Mom's house for cake. Lukas absolutely had a blast! He had been out to the bowling alley before, but only when he was a few days or a few weeks old. So basically not for a very long time. Well this time he got to try to bowl! The first ball Grandma took him down to the lane and they both knelt over the ball and pushed it down. I think they got a few pins down. We eventually got him a ramp to push the ball down, and that to him was a lot of fun! He would follow you up and say "push" and then push the ball down the ramp and onto the lane! Once the ball was on it's way down the lane Lukas lost his interest in it fast! We had to keep watching him around the ball return (not a place for little hands) and he also kept trying to wonder off to explore. I do believe all in all he had a great time! I will post some pictures when I get some time!

Our Little Computer User

Last night Lukas and I were downstairs doing laundry. While I was in the laundry room he decided to go play in our office area. While I was switching the laundry it got quiet. When your child who normally isn't very quiet is quiet you know he is up to something. Either 1. he is doing something he shouldn't be, or 2. he could be eating something. Well I pretty much knew he wasn't eating anything, but I figured he was doing something he shouldn't be. Well it was neither of those things! When I walked into the office he looked at me and said "Mama ooohh" and started pecking away at my husband's keyboard for his computer. Then he went over and started moving the mouse and scrolling the middle scroll button with his finger! I opened up Microsoft Word so he could type some letters! He would type a letter and then say "Mama" and point to the screen. What surprised me the most was how he was using the mouse. He must have picked that up from us. How would be know how to scroll the middle button on the mouse with his finger while he moves the mouse with his palm! He amazes me!

Sweet Sweet Happiness!

Wow what a difference a few days makes! Lukas is feeling really good. He is back to his hyper happy self! Last night we went and visited Great Grandma. He was running around begging to be chased, and playing with anything we would let him get his hands on. The only time he sat still was when we were enjoying a Reese's Peanut Butter cup. I think these are definitely his favorite candy! He says "MMMmmm" when eating them and sometimes he just swipes the rest from my hand when we are "sharing". It's nice to know he is feeling better and it's nice to have him back to his silly happy self!

Poor Ears!

I took Lukas to the doctor yesterday and it was confirmed he does have an ear infection. In fact he has double ear infection and to top it off one of them is severally infected. The right ear may rupture is what the doctor told me and it will drain. She said he will be in a lot of pain for the next few days. When Lukas gets an ear infection it's not like he runs a fever, or you can tell he isn't feeling well. He just doesn't sleep well. Every single time so far he has not ran a fever or been down for the day or night. He was hyper and happy playing all day Saturday and Sunday. He didn't run a fever or show any of the "normal" signs of classic ear infection symptoms. The only difference is he didn't sleep well Saturday or Sunday night. Sunday night he barely slept at all. He just wanted to sit and cuddle in to sleep, but would only sleep for short periods of time. My husband and I took turns, because that is the only true way to get some sleep when Lukas wasn't sleeping. Well they had me start giving him an antibiotic and to double up on his Motrin for now. It seemed to work last night he slept so well! We all got good sleep last night! Thank goodness!
